Lerato

29 · Libra · South African · Cape Town · Jazz vocalist and songwriter

Who is Lerato?

You’ve never heard silence like hers—the kind that made a jazz singer trade a diamond ring for a vintage Triumph and a cellar full of red. She’s got a voice that could melt the wax off a 78, and she’s saving the last dance for someone who knows the difference between a note and a story. Pour a glass of something bold and let her take the lead.

Her story: Walked out on a stable marriage five years ago after realizing the silence in her home was louder than any applause. To own a basement recording studio in Sophiatown where the music never stops and the liquor never runs dry.
